How to Fix Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Not Accessible

There are several reasons why players can’t access the DLC, even though they’ve fulfilled all requirements. One of the most common reasons is that the game does not recognize the installed DLC. However, our solutions below are sure to help you play the Shadow of Erdtree expansion without problems.

Make Sure to Download the DLC

The first fix is an obvious one, make sure that you’ve downloaded the DLC/updated the game. First, you need to launch Elden Ring and spot which version you have installed on the bottom-right of the screen. If the information states the name of the DLC “Shadow of the Erdtree,” this means the DLC is successfully installed.

However, if your game isn’t detecting the DLC, I recommend that you go to your designated store e.g. Steam, Playstation Store, or Microsoft Store. Head towards your game library and make sure that the DLC is checkmarked in your add-ons. If the DLC wasn’t enabled before, the game will proceed to download it.

Tip for PS5: Players on PS5 can use the Restore Licenses feature by going into Settings > User & Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses.

Power Cycle Your Console or PC

If your DLC is installed and you’re still unable to play it, the most simple and effective fix is power cycling your system.

You can simply shut down your PS5, Xbox, or PC and remove the plug from the power outlet. Wait for 2-3 minutes before plugging it back in and powering the system on. After that, you can boot up Elden Ring again and check whether you can access the DLC now.

There’s a high chance that you’ll be able to play the DLC now.

Reinstall Elden Ring

If nothing else works, I recommend uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. Don’t worry, this will not affect your save files.

This will install the latest copy of the game on your system. This will help your system detect the DLC from the get-go and you’ll be able to start playing it right away (considering you’ve done all the required tasks to access it).

These were all the fixes that will help you fix the issue of being unable to play Elden Ring Shadow of Erdtree DLC on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. Hopefully, the developers will patch this issue in an update so players won’t have to suffer for long and can finally play the DLC without problems.

Defeat General Radahn

Starscourge Radahn is the big boss located in the rot-infested Calid region of the Lands Between. You must activate the Radahn Festival by visiting any site of grace in the Altus Plateau.

Once the festival is active, you’ll need to reach the Redmane Castle in the southeast corner of the map. There’s a portal on the beach that you’ll activate to travel to the battlefield where you’ll face off against Radahn.

Defeat Mohg, Lord of Blood Next

Mohg, Lord of Blood is the second boss that you need to defeat in order to access the Shadow of Erdtree DLC in Elden Ring.

You’ll find him in Mohgwyn Palace located underneath Caelid. The Palace region is accessible by either the gateway teleporter of Consecrated Snowfield or by using the Pureblood Knight’s Medal given to you by White Mask Varré at the end of his questline.

Interact With the Withered Arm (Miquella’s Cocoon)

Once you defeat Mohg, Lord of Blood, you’ll see a withered arm in his Throne Room. Go towards it and interact with the Arm to start the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. That’s it, you’re ready to set out into the Land of Shadow and acquire new gear to face off deadly bosses.

The fact that you were able to face off against Radahn and Mohg really shows how well-equipped you are for the DLC difficulty. So, you don’t have to worry about any additional grind to level up and be eligible for the expansion.

New Content

As discussed before, the main highlight of the patch is the support for the latest Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of Erdtree. This DLC will take players on a journey across the Land of Shadow and pit them against new enemies and bosses. There are multiple armor sets for you to pick from in Elden Ring. Some of this armor will benefit you more than others, depending on what type of build you’re trying to use for your playthrough.

• Battlemage: The Haima Glintstone Crown increases Strength and Intelligence by 2 but has a 10% FP reduction
• Black Knife: The chest piece muffles the sound of the wearer’s footstep
• Briar: You will damage enemies when you roll into them. The damage is increased for each piece worn
• Commoner: The chest piece will increase your Faith by 1
• Consort: The max will increase your Dexterity by 2
• Crucible Axe: Each piece of the set increases your damage with Aspect of the Crucible incantations by 4%, for a total of 16% while wearing the full set

• Spellblade: Each piece of this armor increases your magic dealing Ashes of War damage by roughly 2% ( This does not boost Sorceries, only Ashes of War)
• War Surgeon: The helmet increases the wearer’s attack power by 10% for 20 seconds once blood loss has been inflicted to an enemy or the user

Daggers are the go-to weapon for stealth builds in Elden Ring. The extremely close-quarters weapon isn’t for everybody, but if you want to wield one, you’ll need to know where they are and what skills they have.

Great Knife

This is the first Dagger you can get in the game — the Bandit class starts with it. If you choose a different class, you can obtain one as a random drop from Demi-Human enemies that wield it.

Daggers, the simplest form that shares the name of the weapon class, are often dropped by Highwaymen you find all across Limgrave. Alternatively, you can buy one from the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold for 400 runes.

Parrying Dagger

Patches sell this for 1600 runes after encountering him inside Murkwater Cave in northeast Limgrave. The location is marked in the screenshot above. If you accidentally killed him, give his Bell Bearing to the Twin Maiden Husks to purchase it from them instead.

Reduvia

This is also found near Murkwater Cave. An invader called Bloody Finger Nerijus will appear at the spot marked above. He’ll drop this upon defeat.

Erdsteel Dagger

Kenneth Haight gives this as a reward for clearing out Fort Haight in east Limgrave. Also found North-West of the Avenue Balcony site of Leyndell in the Royal Capital. It’s located on a corpse after dropping down a pit with a Broken Statue.

Ivory Sickle

This is found at the Village of the Albinaurics in Liurnia of the Lakes. The Site of Grace is shown above, but remember that it’s under the surface there. Head straight east from the Site of Grace. You’ll find a coffin up the hill that holds the sickle.

Crystal Knife

The Crystal Knife is inside Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel — the entrance is marked above. Once you take the first elevator, proceed forward across the pit. In the next passage, go through the second doorway on the right. Here is a chest containing the knife, but beware of the three enemies guarding it.

Wakizashi

Finally, you’ll find Wakizashi inside Gaol Cave, a dungeon in west Caelid, marked above. You’ll open the jail cells inside as part of completing the dungeon. Once you do, drop down and head right to start backtracking. Drop into the next pit and continue forward. You’re looking for the cell immediately after the one stuffed with exploding enemies on the left. Inside that cell is a trio of corpses, one of which holds the weapon.

Mage tower puzzles are a staple of Elden Ring. In the Mountaintops of the Giants, the Heretical Rise is a sealed mage’s tower. The imp statue’s book hints, “Falling snow marks something unseen.” This guide shows how to solve the Fallen Snow Marks Something Unseen puzzle and access Heretical Rise.

How to Cross the Invisible Bridge and Solve the Falling Snow Marks Puzzle in Elden Ring

To solve the puzzle, you need to cross an invisible bridge over a vast chasm, then enter the Heretical Rise via an open-air balcony. The only chasm nearby is north of the tower, and you’ll need to go all the way to the Freezing Lake Site of Grace near the lake’s northwest coast.

Travel west from the site of grace (toward Castle Sol), and you’ll eventually run into a broken bridge that points to the Heretical Rise. Here’s where the fallen snow comes into play. The remainder of the bridge and the stairway coming off of it you need to climb to the balcony are invisible. If you don’t have any prism stones, the only way to know where the remainder of the bridge is would be to watch where it catches the snow and where it doesn’t.

You’ll want to bring a handful of items to cross this bridge, such as rainbow stones, or other rocks. We also recommend you watch for the falling snow to notice the invisible bridge, but this might not be enough for every player, and that’s completely fine. That’s why having several rainbow stones or rocks in your inventory is always a good idea.

Where to Find the Invisible Bridge Near Heretical Rise

You’ll need to get over your fear of heights to cross this bridge, and while the whole experience can be terrifying, the bridge itself is much broader than you might think. Use the falling snow and rainbow stones to continuously check if the path ahead of you is safe. You can also use a bow and arrows to check, but it might be hard to see if your eyes are bad like mine. Here’s a tip: an interactive map can help you pinpoint locations such the invisible bridge.

Alternatively, if you have a weapon that uses an Ash of War with an effect that spreads across the ground, like the Icerind Hatchet’s Hoarfrost Stomp, you can use this to see the perimeter of the bridge by noting the area of effect. Just keep in mind that you likely won’t be able to infinitely spam your skill, so you should probably still bring some rainbow stones with you while you attempt to solve the “falling snow marks something unseen” puzzle.

If you’re playing online, you’re liable to see bloodstains and messages from other players helping guide your way. We don’t recommend you stop using stones and arrows, as those bloodstains are there for a reason, but they can give you an idea of where to stand.

The invisible bridge will end when you reach about 100 feet from the side of the Heretical Rise, with the balcony above you and to the left. Now, you need to take an invisible staircase to your destination. If you’re running low on stones, you can use the environment below you as a guide. In the valley below, you should see a pair of spirit trees near the cliffside; the stairway is directly across from them. Ration what stones you have left (We only needed four or five), and make your way carefully up the stairs.

As tempting as it might be to head directly for the broken balcony, don’t. When you reach a point on the stairs where your feet are roughly on the same level as the balcony, make a slight right and then go straight. You’ve completed the most dangerous part of your task as soon as you enter the tower and see the “Heretical Rise” message on your screen.

At this point, you’ve now completed the “falling snow marks something unseen” puzzle, and you can safely teleport to any Site of Grace and enter the tower from the front door but know that the place is guarded by Marionette Soldiers who will spin their arms at you and roll around on the floor with their swords out.

If you’ve taken it slow and carefully to this point, you should be fine. Your reward for solving the riddle is at the top of the Rise in a Chest: Founding Rain of Stars sorcery. You also get the fantastic prize of never crossing invisible bridges again, at least in this region. There are other locations with invisible bridges, waiting for you to discover them.

Founding Rain of Stars Stats

The Founding Rain of Stars sorcery you obtain after completing the “falling snow marks something unseen” puzzle is a decent sorcery with a short-range AoE effect that releases a downpour of star rain for a short period of time. The sorcery has the following stats:

• Spell Type: Primeval Sorcery
• Stamina Cost: 31
• FP Cost: 27
• Requirements: Intelligence 52

Founding Rain of Stars doesn’t stagger enemies, but it does do magic damage that ain’t half bad. You won’t find it very reliable in PvE thanks to its short distance and only being able to have one instance of it occurring at a time, but it’s quick to cast and its AoE is fairly wide, making it most useful against melee enemies.

However, others are suspicious of the lack of marketing for the DLC and want to give the developer the time it needs to make the DLC as great as the game it’s adding onto. “As much as I want the DLC, I’m just fine with From Soft taking its time. It’s what separates them from so many others. You know it’ll be great right at launch. So it’ll be worth the wait.”

More fans still aren’t even sure they want the DLC at all. FromSoftware DLC is notoriously hit-and-miss with each game’s player base, and there’s no way to tell how players will react until the DLC has launched.

FromSoftware has no plans to port Elden Ring to the Nintendo Switch anytime soon. And with the handheld console reaching the end of its life span, I don’t think we’ll ever see an Elden Ring Switch port.

To be fair, as much as the Switch likes to punch way above its weight, it’s unlikely that its mobile Tegra X1 chipset will be able to handle the monstrosity of an open world that Elden Ring represents. And nobody likes a poorly ported Nintendo Switch game.

Sure, games can be heavily scaled back, so a Nintendo Switch port is feasible. However, some titles are not scalable enough, which might be Elden Ring‘s case. 

If you really want to play Elden Ring and are lucky enough to own a PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, or a buff enough PC, then you can give those a try.

The most direct way to get to the Lake-Facing Cliffs is to find or teleport to the Stormhill Shack Site of Grace in Elden Ring. This is an early location that you should have no trouble getting straight out of the starting area, and you can find it while you’re making your way north of the opening location in the game.

The Lake-Facing Cliffs Site of Grace is Northwest of Stormhill Shack, and there is a pesky castle blocking the way. You won’t be able to reach the location by heading east. In fact, you’ll probably be murdered by the castle ballista with several enemies manning them if you are still a fledgling adventurer in Elden Ring. My best recommendation would be to steer clear of this area, and instead make your way north, following the path underneath the bridge.

Make your way onto the bridge and past the merchant there. When you reach its edge, immediately look to your left and slightly down. There is a path here that leads up the mountain and around the castle. Jump onto this and head forward, following the curve to the left and then again to the right. You can follow this pathway relatively easily, so long as you stick to the cliffs. Avoiding the enemies leading to the castle is likely the toughest part of discovering this location in Elden Ring, along with noticing the cliff pathway you can use.

You’ll want to follow this path northwest as it increases in elevation, navigating the few bends as you go. Watch out for wolves on the way. They patrol this area. The path will eventually peak and curve to the left. This is your final destination.

You should now see a swirling Site of Grace just ahead and to the right of the road where the path opens up. You have now successfully navigated to the Lake-Facing Cliffs and its Site of Grace in Elden Ring. Take a rest at the light, and take comfort in knowing that you can now return to this spot at any time.

There are dozens of bosses for you to fight in Elden Ring, but certain ones are more powerful than others, and they have legendary weapons you can loot from them after you win. Rennala, the Full Moon Queen, is one of these bosses.

What is the Best Remembrance of the Full Moon Queen Choice in Elden Ring?

Like many of the Remembrance items in Elden Ring, the choice comes down to the type of character you’re playing. For those with a high Intelligence attribute on their character, grab Rennala’s Full Moon spell, and if you are using Intelligence with other stats and want a melee weapon, choose Carian Regal Scepter.

Rennala’s Full Moon spell requires you to have at least 70 Intelligence, whereas the Carian Regal Scepter only needs 60 Intelligence, alongside at least eight Strength and 10 Dexterity. Not only will the Carian Regal Scepter be a powerful melee weapon, but it’s going to boost any Full Moon spells your character is using, namely Ranni’s Dark Moon and Rennala’s Full Moon.

Honestly, because Carian Regal Scepter and Rennala’s Full Moon spell work so well together in Elden Ring, the Remembrance of the Full Moon Queen is a perfect candidate for you to use at the Mausoleum where you can duplicate your Remembrance.

If you must choose between the two at the beginning of your Elden Ring playthrough, I recommend going with Carian’s Regal Scepter. This is a weapon that you can acquire in your game, and upgrade using Somber Smithing Stones if you already have some in your possession. You can bring them to Smithing Master Hewg, who is working at the Table of Lost Grace.

After upgrading Carian’s Regal Scepter several times, using it in combat while your character wields Ranni’s Dark Moon and Rennala’s Full Moon spells will make them incredibly powerful. You have to devote many of your early attribute points to Intelligence in Elden to make this worth it, but it’s perfect for players working on their second game playthrough.
